"Fukushuu no Miboujin" drama: Episode four of eight recap

Air Dates: July 8th until August 26, 2022 on TV-Tokyo, Fridays at 2:35 am
Also aired on Paravi in March, title translates over to Widow of Revenge
Subs were done by Blitz Fansubs

Main Cast: Wrote most of this up after the first two episodes and know there will be a lot of updating with these bios as many will be going... to the hospital or their graves!!!! Most of the action will be taking place at the Planning and Development section of COD Techno Services, almost all of the main cast worked there.

Wakana Suzuki as Mitsu Susuki.... Her real name is Mitsuki but shortened it to disguise her identity. She was the wife of Yugo who worked at COD but he committed suicide a year ago. Mitsu knows there's much more to his death than calling it a suicide, was Yugo so stressed out he killed himself or was he 'helped'? Mitsu is now working as a temp contractor at COD to find out exactly how her husband died, she's out for revenge! Though a very attractive woman you don't want to get on her bad side as we quickly learned.

Yasushi Fuchikami as Yugo Suzuki.... Yugo's brother who is a detective. Like Mitsu he feels there's more to his brother's death than has been revealed, he's working undercover with her to find out the truth.

Yuta Hiraoka as Yugo Suzuki.... Of course we'll only see him in flashbacks for he died a year ago, at COD he was a team leader and had been an engineer. Seems Yugo was harassed endlessly by his manager Hashimoto and was that a main reason for his suicide? His death happened by jumping off the roof of the COD building.

Renn Kiriyama as Makoto Saito.... Very diligent worker at COD who looked up to Yugo but didn't know him well. He really respects the new contractor Mitsu who quickly became the ace of COD, wonder if we'll see him team up with her to discover the truth?

Kenshin Endo as Yoshihito Sakai... Male worker at COD, was really abused by Hashimoto.

Yuki Morinaga as Kazuya Kotake.... Inept employee who spends most of his time playing online games instead of working. The only reason Kotake has a job is because his father owns a large shipping company who COD has an account with. His game playing has affected the office performance as he uses up so much bandwidth. Haven't seen him since the second show when he was locked in an isolated room.

Sakurako Konishi as Tomomi Itahashi.... Another inept employee who pushes her work off onto others, her main passion is her cat Mocha.

Yasuyuki Maekawa as Isamu Wakatsuki.... The president of the COD company and a former star soccer player. A very intelligent man whose post sports career hadn't gone as well as it should have. That is until he met his wife Erina who is the daughter of the man who found COD and thus Wakatsuki became the president. Has had many affairs and his wife is pregnant.

Rika Adachi as Saeki Maho: The secretary to the president and the pair did have an affair. Saeki is currently dating a congressman's son who is kind of a sleazy man. She was jealous of Mitsu and wanted to bring her down, needless to say that didn't happen!

Satoru Matsuo as Masaya Hashimoto.... We only saw him in the first episode but his name will be mentioned often. He was the arrogant manager of the Planning and Development department whom all despised and he ruthlessly would humiliate his employees. Hashimoto may have been a key reason for Yugo killing himself but Mitsu got her revenge in the first show!

Previous recaps:

Will try to make this recap a bit shorter but quite a bit took place in those first three shows though an episode is only 23 minutes in length. To date we've had four victims from Mitsu's 'Hit List' but none were added in this show. Hashimoto hasn't been heard of since the first episode and may be in the hospital for the rest of his life. Still find it hard to believe there's never been a word said about Kotake who was locked in a room at the end of the second episode. The previous show ended with the COD president Wakatsuki being stabbed in the groin(ouch!) numerous times by his wife Erina. Wonder if she was ever charged with a crime and as you can see in the top screenshot Wakatsuki has resigned from the company. Two of these acts of revenge did end up more serious than I had thought at first, perhaps that's the case with Kotake too if he was left to starve to death!

That leaves the fourth victim who was the young female worker Itabashi. Nothing major had happened to her but what did take place left her very unnerved, she was the first to wonder if there was a hit list for employees who had used Yugo badly when he was alive. Itabashi was sure of it and perhaps she had better leave COD while she still can so in this show we learned she quit the company to return to school, has Mitsu exacted enough revenge on her? Above you can see some camera footage and it's of the fateful day when Mitsu's husband Yugo jumped to his death from the roof of the COD building. The footage was obtained by her partner and Yugo's brother Youshi who is a detective, have never seen him at his regular job. The video showed Yugo arriving on that day which was February 5, 2021 and the present time is March 2022. Shortly after entering the office Yugo left and was never seen again. Some time later Saito entered the office, he looked at Yugo's desk and appeared to read something. He too left the building and seemingly to find Yugo, Saito returned back to COD shortly after and the question is was he the last person to see Yugo alive?

That first batch of screenshots had two with a new employee in the Planning and Development department. Her name is Haruna and don't know much about her yet or whether she'll be yet another victim. She was quickly whisked away by Hasegawa from the sales unit to do a project for him which was unknown to her supervisor Saito. Don't want to speculate about Haruna yet who I'm sure we'll be seeing more of and though we've seen little of Hasegawa he's come across as one huge creep. As a detective Youshi is a top notch one, he's also discovered a bit about Saito's background. His parents were divorced and he ended up being raised by his mother. Just until he was eight in age as that's when his deranged mother killed herself and after that Saito appeared to grow up in an orphanage. He seems to be a decent man but Mitsu is a bit leery of him, though Saito claimed not to know her dead husband Yugo well he thought highly of Saito and why would he have gone chasing after Yugo on the day of his death?

Mitsu needs to know more about Saito and his relationship with Yugo, she's been getting closer and closer to him, to me it's just a matter of time until an affair starts! Saito too has had some suspicions about Mitsu and of course he doesn't know yet she was Yugo's wife, he can't understand how she could know so much about COD and it's employees. A major event did occur in this episode which should be carried over to the fifth show which dealt with a very young girl named Rin. As Mitsu and Saito were walking along the street above that girl passed by and knocked into Mitsu. There was something very odd about the girl Mitsu thought and then what we saw next was her on a bridge, was she going to jump off into the path of a speeding train? Hard to say but Rin never had a chance to as out of nowhere Saito grabbed the girl from the ledge and pulled her back safely. This girl was brought back to Mitsu's apartment and she's moved since the death of Yugo.

At the time we didn't know the girl's name was Rin who talked on and on about getting revenge on someone. Saito couldn't bear to hear such talk but the girl wouldn't listen to a word of his advice and he was told by Mitsu to head home. She had a long talk with Rin about revenge and such, not a conversation you should have with a girl about eight in age but we didn't hear the whole thing. Eventually Rin was returned home however two days later she reappeared at the door of Mitsu's apartment and you can see above that she had been hit. This second conversation was much more intense and it may lead to a death! During this talk is when Rin revealed her name and discussed her home life. Rin's father had died many years ago and her mother had gotten remarried to a very cruel man, one who constantly hits his wife and Rin.

That's one reason the girl thought about jumping from the bridge but don't think she would have gone through with it. But Rin does want to get back at this man and to most people's horror she would love to kill him! But Mitsu isn't like most people and can understand what Rin is going through, she gave her so much advice on the art of revenge! As the show ended you can see above that Mitsu has given the girl a small vial of an unknown drug, if Rin is serious about killing her stepfather than this will do the trick! So that was an odd ending and one I'm sure will continue on into the next episode. So this ended up being a bit different than the first three shows and while no new victims the series is beginning to get  a bit darker. Don't want to bury everyone with so many recaps so will take a few days off and be back with the next pair on Thursday, hopefully will have the final two posts on Sunday. To date I'm really enjoying this drama which is why I'm zipping through it, more screenshots to help you follow the story a bit better.
