Koe Girl drama: Episode six recap

Air Dates: April 8th to June 10, 2018 on TV-Asahi for ten episodes, aired at 2:30 am Saturdays
The video at the top is the theme song which was song by the two Haruka's

The main cast....

Haruka Fukuhara as Makoto Kikuchi.... Parents run a green grocery where she was scouted by Oshima and has struggled greatly at the beginning to be a voice actress(Seiyu).

Yurika Nakamura as Asami Kuriyama.... The best of the five females who are trying to become voice actresses, disliked Makoto at first for her lack of dedication.

Mariya Nagao as Ren Ineba.... Massive Otaku fan, especially for the 'Precure' series.

Jun Amaki as Konatsu Morimoto.... From Kansai and too often speaks in that dialect.

Aoi Yoshikura as Ryoko Ochiai.... Former child actress making a comeback as a voice actress.

The others, it's a very small cast so far and will add to the list if needed.

Haruka Tomatsu as herself.... Ex-voice actress who now hosts a popular radio show.
Shingo Tsurumi as Yuichiro Oshima... Head of Ihara Productions where the girls work.
Masaki Nakao as Katsutoshi Shoda.... Oshima's assistant.

On to the second batch of five recaps, would help reading the first but it's not essential that you do. For the most part all of the episodes are stand alone ones so there's no cliffhangers that ends a show and begins the next one until the ninth episode. Have viewed up to that ninth episode, will do the recaps for shows six through nine before I watch the final episode and like the first batch there will be five recaps in a row so let's get to the first of five.

Haruka as Makoto had at least 80% of the screen time for the first three episodes. She still has by far the biggest role but beginning with the fourth show the focus has been on one of her housemates. The previous two episodes we learned about the struggles of Ren and Konatsu, now for her turn in the spotlight is Ryoko who you can see above dressed in green.
We know that Makoto is eighteen and was scouted to be a voice actress by Oshima right after she graduated high school. The other ages of the girls hasn't been revealed but Ryoko looks a few years older than anyone else and for a couple of years was a child actor. She's finally landed her first semi big anime role in the series 'Terror's House' and the star voice in the show is Daisuke Namikawa who Ryoko has had a huge crush on for a while.
You can tell by the title that it's a horror anime, Ryoko will be voicing the role of Mary and it being a horror she's required to scream a lot. For a Seiyu(voice actress) that should be something you learn to do early on but that wasn't the case for Ryoko. She just can't scream and actually doesn't really know how to. The other four girls kept trying to help her out by trying to scare her which didn't work. However it worked on their neighbor who was a much older woman and she complained to their manager Oshima who for some reason threatened to throw them out if their antics continued.

Ryoko's inability to scream has gone all the way back to when she was eight years old. At that age she had a small but important role in a very popular horror movie called 'Wicked Soul" which all of her housemates have seen. Ryoko was able to scream in the movie but since then she confessed she just couldn't get scared enough to scream, for some reason she can't even fake one. Though they haven't been housemates for a long time the bond between the girls is very tight and Ryoko's four friends will do whatever it takes to help her scream.
None of their tricks were successful but you do have to give the girls an A+ for effort. They thought of many creative ways to scare Ryoko enough to make her scream but none of then did the trick. Makoto's performance was the best as she had set it up to appear as though she got stabbed with blood oozing out of her body, didn't work on Ryoko but it did on their older neighbor who had heard screams and rushed over.

Of course I like writing up short recaps but wish these were just a little longer as we're almost at the end of the show and they run about 22 minutes in length. Ryoko is about to give up trying to play the role of Mary in the anime, if she can't scream then she would be useless in the show. That means it would definitely affect her future as I'll bet so many roles require a Seiyu to scream.
With about two minutes to go in the episode the impossible took place as while Ryoko's four housemates were eating breakfast in the kitchen they heard her scream in the hallway leading to it. The four rushed out to find Ryoko sprawled out on the floor clutching her phone, the picture that was on it is the above screenshot. That's Namikawa who had sent Ryoko a message wishing her good luck, she's had such a crush on him she screamed for the fist time in ages and slumped to the floor. Don't know how but Ryoko has told her mates that she now knows the secret to being able to scream, looking at a pic of her heartthrob? You wouldn't think so but it appears it's going to work for Ryoko as this sixth episode came to it's close.

Haruka above is such a popular voice actress, have seen many pics of her plus have heard her voice in a few shows but this is the first time I've seen her 'live'. Another solid show but when the focus isn't on Makoto not as much seems to happen as the last few recaps have been much shorter but think they'll be getting a bit longer after this, four more of them follow this post.
