"Born Again" drama: Episode's eleven and twelve recap

Air Dates: April 20th to June 9, 2020.... Monday and Tuesday nights at 10:00 pm on KBS2
Ratings for the two episodes were 2.4 and 2.9%, KBS2 isn't too major of a channel

Main Cast: The characters changed much sooner than I expected, they original three main ones were only in the first four episodes. That action took place in the late 1980's, now it's early March 2020 and the top three have been reincarnated, show what their previous names were. Much bigger cast for this period of time, will be adding to it as characters are introduced or at least the more important ones.

Jin Se-Yeon as Jung Sa-Bin(was Ha-Eun)....~31 year old woman who is a professor of Archaeology at the University of Seoyeon, also an NFS medical examiner. Like her original character had a heart condition but unlike Ha-Eun Sa-Bin has had a heart transplant.

Lee Seo-Yuk as Kim Soo-Hyeok(was Cha).... In his previous life Kim was a detective and has remained fighting criminals but is now a prosecutor and a very ruthless one. He has a phtotographic memory and remembers everything about a criminal

Jang Ki-Yong as Chun Jong-Bun(was Ji-Cheol).... He looks so much different than his original character, in present time Chun is a foresenics student and is at the top of his class. He comes from a wealthy family and his stepfather is the head prosecutor for Seoul

The Rest of the cast....

Choi Kwong-Ii as Chun Seok-Tae.... Jong-Bun's father though not his real one, is the head prosecutor for the Seoul office
Kim Jung-Young as Heo Jin-Kyung.... Jong-Bun's mother and quite a snob
Park Sang-Hoon as Chun Jong-Woo.... Jong-Bun's half brother

Han Hae-Rim as Yoo Seo-Young.... Sa-Bin's partner at NFS
Lee Seo-El as Baek Sang-A.... Kim's girlfriend, a violinist
Jang Won-Young as Joo In-Do.... Cha's partner in the 80's, is still a detective
Cha Min-Jee as Jay.... Sa-Bin's roommate and a graphic designer at NFS

NFS- you'll be seeing these letters quite often which stand for 'National Forensics Service'

Many others in the cast but the majority of them are just in a few episodes but do have a feeling the above will be updated a few times.

Every post will have two episodes and was thinking it may make it much easier to follow a drama if you're interested in it. Most of the time I would do 2-4 recaps a week which means it'd take about five or more weeks to do them all. It's easy to forget what happened in a show if you have to wait a week for a post and perhaps a viewer would lose interest in reading them. So this way you can read what took place from the very first minute until the final one, for now that's the plan. There's also going to be a new video at the top of each post, could be a promo, scene from a show, etc. The one for today is a behind the scenes video that's subbed in English but it's for a future episode.

Have suggested just reading a pair of posts at a time so as not to lose interest. If you read those first five posts then thanks as recaps usually aren't the most exciting things to read, not just mine but in general. The previous post ended off with prosecutor/detective Kim finding the remains of a small baby in a church yard. Kim had been led to the location by the serial killer Byun who also revealed where he buried six other bodies. But did he have any connection to this murder? Doesn't appear so as Jong-Bum had been the person to bury the body, that's where the action will start from.

Father Andrew is the head of the Sky Garden Cathedral and if my memory serves me well he may have been the person who was going to officiate Ha-Eun's and Cha's wedding thirty years before. Back then he had met Ji-Cheol and seems the two have reconnected since his 'reincarnation', deep down did he realize Jong-Bum was/still is Ji-Cheol? Father Andrew confessed to knowing about the small coffin but thought there was a puppy inside, he also informed Kim that it was none other then Jong-Bum who had buried the baby. Once again Kim is after his now #1 nemesis and didn't waste any time as he tracked down Jong-Bum at an exhibit with Sa-Bin. She's been in the dark about what's been going on with the two, a bit was revealed to her during their confrontation and was it possible that her student and now friend could be a murderer?

Jong-Bum went with Kim voluntarily to the police headquarters and the pair had quite a long interrogation. Jong-Bum did admit to burying the little baby's body but insisted he had nothing to do with it's death as that happened almost ten years ago. He didn't hold back anything and it did seem Jong-Bum was telling the truth. During Kwa's last night alive she had confessed to Jong-Bum that she had killed her little baby and where it was buried, during that night out she had become quite inebriated. He's still a prime suspect in Kwa's death but Kim still has no concrete evidence against Jong-Bum. The reason he said for moving the baby's remains was to give it a proper burial, don't most psychopaths seem to have a caring attitude about them?

Though much was revealed during their talk there was once again nothing Kim could pin on the young man and once again may not have a chance to. That's because while the two were talking Kim had been called into the head prosecutor's office, that man is Chun who is Jong-Bum's stepfather. For the second time he told Kim to lay off his son though in a sly way. It would be a shame if some of Kim's underhanded ways to arrest criminals was released to the media said ChunKim was furious that Jong-Bum may get away with murder again. Jang is Kim's soon-to-be mother in law, she's the mother of Sang-A and Jang began the episode off with her appearing on the 'Case Inside' show to discuss her book "Secrets of a Murderer". It was based on the serial killer Gong from thirty years ago and is this man still alive? She's been fascinated with the case and may be the only person to know the real connection between Ji-Cheol and Jong-Bum. Her part has been small up until now but think it'll be expanding soon with all of the info she may know.

Haven't talked too much about Jang's daughter Sang-A who is getting married to Kim. Won't be discussing her too much as her role hasn't been too large and in all honesty can't stand the character. After having the largest role for eight shows Sa-Bin has become a bit less important and that could be because so much of the story is revolving around Jong-Bum. He's starting to fall a bit harder for her and can say the same thing about Sa-Bin's feelings towards him though there is an eight year age difference. We did learn a bit more about Sa-Bin's heart transplant this show or to be more accurate Jong-Bum did.

Back in the first four shows Ha-Eun needed a transplant too though never received one. It's kind of odd that a reincarnated person would have the same health problem as the previous person. But that was the case for Sa-Bin who did get a new heart when she was fourteen, the donor had been a man on death row. However that man wasn't executed but instead had hung himself in his cell. That man went by the prisoner #37321, he does have a name but it's not revealed until the next recap. Though this show isn't that confusing so many other viewers did mention that it became a little too complicated and I will have to agree with that.

Another thing that hadn't been discussed is that Jong-Bum has a fetish for women who have surgical scars! Of course Sa-Bin has one and so didn't Kwa who was murdered, that case still hasn't been solved by the end of the next recap. There are some unlikable characters in this series and one of the biggest ones is the stepbrother of Jong-Bum. He's eight years younger, that would make him fifteen and what a devil this kid is though he can do no wrong in the eyes of his father. This imp's name is Jong-Woo who was so pleased when Jong-Bum moved out though he lied so badly about how much he would miss his brother, if Jong-Bum was going to kill someone wish it would be that kid.

Jong-Woo visited his stepbrother at his studio loft with his usual sarcastic attitude. He brought this special drink their mother made and I don't really understand what the ingredients do to you but it's not a positive effect. This had been going on for years and Jong-Bum never questioned why he was forced to drink this potent green liquid, can't be too good for you or why else would Jong-Woo have brought the potion? But outside the apartment door was Sa-Bin who overheard everything, she rushed in to prevent Jong-Bum from drinking the concoction and Jong-Woo zoomed right out. He had brought quite a few bottles of the drink which were soon smashed by Jong-Bum in anger. Actually the person really irate was Sa-Bin who couldn't understand why Jong-Bum would be consuming the drink, especially with him being a medical student.

Sa-Bin and Jong-Bum have been getting much closer or perhaps it'd be better say the two are around each other much more. They really haven't been overly honest with the next person until that scene with Jong-Woo, Sa-Bin was so furious with Jong-Bum drinking that liquid for so many years. Getting a bit curious now about what's in that drink which wasn't talked about in the next two shows. For the first time the pair did have a spat with Sa-Bin storming out but it wasn't to last for all that long, may have helped their relationship being a bit more open and honest with each other.

Two recaps ago Sa-Bin and Kim had been on the hunt for the 'Old Future' bookstore, it had been owned by Ha-Eun in Sa-Bin's previous life. However on that first hunt is when they had been in the car 'accident' which was actually a plot to kill Sa-Bin. The pair are now back looking for the store and in the final scene were successful. An older man had bought the store thirty years before after the owner had died, when he saw Sa-Bin he was startled as wasn't he looking at Ha-Eun? There may have been a clue about the serial killer Gong at the store which wasn't to be but the pair did purchase a few books. As they had left it begun raining heavily, Kim said he would dash to his car but before he did Sa-Bin did something which stunned us and Kim. That's of her planting a kiss on Kim's lips, he was in shock about that but Sa-Bin has been falling hard for him though she can't stand him, Kim also has been having romantic feelings for her and that action closed this episode.

Lot of questions and mysteries once again popped up, very few were answered but many of them were in the next recap. At this point I'm unsure whether all sixteen recaps will be completed, it's been a solid show though not as compelling as I thought it would be. Been thinking a bit about stopping these recaps at the halfway point but for now am up in the air about that. It's also taking a long time viewing and watching the series, will finish with the viewing but recapping it is unknown.

**** Obviously if you read the first pic in this mini marathon you know that I ceased with these recaps but after a break may finish it up. Watched the next four half hour episodes which really was such a struggle and decided enough was enough. Talked a bit about it in that first post but will also have some more final thoughts in that upcoming Se-Yeon post.
