"Work Later, Drink Now" Korean drama, episode three recap

Air Dates: October 22nd until December 10, 2021 Friday nights at 10:00 pm on tVN.

Main Cast: The three main female leads are 29 in age and have been close friends since college. The top two are roommates and it's hard to explain fully how much they love to drink, every episode will revolve around that pastime. Just five regular characters but there are some guest stars in a few episodes.

Lee Sun-Bin as An So-Hee.... She works as a variety show writer and is the most 'mature' of the trio but can also be the most frightening. Like her two close friends enjoys her Soju lukewarm instead of ice cold.

Han Sun-Hwa as Han Ji-Yeon.... What an attractive woman she is and in this show is so vain about her looks. Ji-Yeon works as a yoga instructor and is a bit of an airhead, she can hold her liquor better than her two mates as she seldom has hangovers.

Jung Eun-Ji as Kang Ji-Goo.... The quietest of the three yet also the most eerie. Ji-Goo never smiles and her 'job' is creating Origami on her YouTube channel, don't know how she makes any money off it and that could be why she lives in a small attic apartment.

Choi Si-Won as Kang Buk-Hu.... Is a TV producer who works with So-Hee and the two are always at odds with each other. Think he may become their fourth drinking teammate.

Kim Jung-Min as Hwang.... Owner, cook and bartender of the House of Five Blessings where the women often go to get a bit tipsy as only he can put up with their shenanigans.

Previous recaps

Really glad I stumbled across the series which will end up being one of my top shows for 2021. Never have done any kind of list for my fave dramas of the year and that's mainly because I watch so many older ones. Had taken a long break from Korean dramas even though I enjoy them so much and the biggest reason is how long they are. Most are an hour in length, times that by 16-20 episodes and you can see how much time you have to devote to a series. But the shows in this drama are only around 27 minutes in length which works best for this kind of show. This episode was only 22 minutes but the fourth show was 31 minutes. This trio of gals are just so fun and do they love their alcohol(!), so obviously the worst thing that could happen is if it began to create problems in their lives which is what took place in this show.

That's Ji-Yeon in the top three screenshots, she's one attractive woman yet also incredibly vain about her beauty. In those pics she had woken up in the morning to an absolute nightmare.... there was a pimple on her face! She screamed so loud the whole neighborhood probably heard her, Ji-Yeon's roommate sure heard it who is also right above, her name is So-Hee. She told her friend it's only a pimple which will go away, that wasn't good enough for the overly vain Ji-Yeon who even went to a doctor to because of the pimple! He gave her some cheap advice, if she wants to stop pimples from ever appearing again she has to.... stop drinking! That's what an avid drinker hates to hear but Ji-Yeon won't be the only one of her trio of drinking pals who will hear those words.

As mentioned that's So-Hee above, she looks the oldest of her friends but all are 29 in age. She works as the main writer for a variety show, not sure if she's that good of a writer but she knows every trivia fact you can think of which is key to variety shows. But lately she's been having such difficulties remembering any of them, as a matter of fact she can't recall the simplest of things such as is it Spring or Fall? The producer of the show is Kang, this episode will end off with an encounter with him and I'm kind of wondering if him and So-Hee may somehow become mates? That's Kang in the second to last screenshot above, he knows how much So-Hee loves to drink so he's says is it a case of Alzheimer's due to her drinking? Like her close friend and drinking mate Ji-Yeon So-Hee went to see a doctor about her condition, you can see what the person said in the below screenshot.

The doctor told So-Hee the same thing, drinking is the cause of your forgetfulness and she needs to stop, to So-Hee what's the sense of living without being able to guzzle Soju?! The third gal in the trio has oddly had problems too related to alcohol at the same time, that's Ji-Goo who is above in three screenshots. Her 'profession' is teaching how to create Origami on her YT channel, it's not all that popular and doesn't seem she gets enough exercise. That's because she got some severe cramps just by bending over and like her two friends had to pay a visit to a doctor. He was about an 85 year old guy who at first insisted the problem was because Ji-Goo wasn't married with kids! That was hogwash to her and eventually the doctor admitted the cramps were caused by excessive drinking, like So-Hee Ji-Goo thought what's the sense of living if she can't drink to her heart's content?

The trio did make it through one night without drinking and what a horror show it was for them. All three just sat around and moaned about their misfortune, what's to become of them without their daily gallon(s) of Soju? One night was one too many for So-Hee who is in the bottom screenshot above. She texted her friends and said they could at least go out to dinner, perhaps even just split one bottle of lukewarm Soju to wash the food down. Of course her fiends were raring to go and before you knew it they were at their fave eatery/bar named House of Five Blessings. The evening began innocently enough with them ordering some food and only one bottle of Soju to share though of course we know there's no way one bottle could last an evening.

That first bottle was polished off just a bit too quickly as the women had so much food left, a second bottle of Soju was then ordered but they insisted that was it! Famous last words and what happened next was there was Soju left but no food so more was ordered and that went on and on until they finished off both their heaping amounts of food and Soju at the same time. However that one bottle turned into at least ten and there's no way these women will ever give up drinking. Can't stop at just ten they mused and it was off to another bar as their fave restaurant was closing but some funny things took place as they were dashing to a bar for more Soju.

First Ji-Goo fell down and the impact of hitting the sidewalk has gotten rid of her cramps! A few seconds after that mysteriously Ji-Yeon's pimple disappeared, of course to them the cure had been drinking Soju! Plus So-Hee's memory came back with a bang and she could remember every single thing that she once knew and when that happened the trio were passing by an eatery. So-Hee noticed her producer Kang inside and rushed in to tell him he was wrong about some things in their last staff meeting. She was a bit tipsy and you can see what the result of that was above but on So-Hee's lips at the time was a leaf! At only 22 minutes this ended this episode but the consequences of that kiss above is the main story for the next recap which is the next post plus have the women finally met their match when it comes to drinking?
