"Work Later, Drink Now" Korean drama, episode four recap

Air Dates: October 22nd until December 10, 2021 Friday nights at 10:00 pm on tVN.

Main Cast: The three main female leads are 29 in age and have been close friends since college. The top two are roommates and it's hard to explain fully how much they love to drink, every episode will revolve around that pastime. Just five regular characters but there are some guest stars in a few episodes.

Lee Sun-Bin as An So-Hee.... She works as a variety show writer and is the most 'mature' of the trio but can also be the most frightening. Like her two close friends enjoys her Soju lukewarm instead of ice cold.

Han Sun-Hwa as Han Ji-Yeon.... What an attractive woman she is and in this show is so vain about her looks. Ji-Yeon works as a yoga instructor and is a bit of an airhead, she can hold her liquor better than her two mates as she seldom has hangovers.

Jung Eun-Ji as Kang Ji-Goo.... The quietest of the three yet also the most eerie. Ji-Goo never smiles and her 'job' is creating Origami on her YouTube channel, don't know how she makes any money off it and that could be why she lives in a small attic apartment.

Choi Si-Won as Kang Buk-Hu.... Is a TV producer who works with So-Hee and the two are always at odds with each other. Think he may become their fourth drinking teammate.

Kim Jung-Min as Hwang.... Owner, cook and bartender of the House of Five Blessings where the women often go to get a bit tipsy as only he can put up with their shenanigans.

Guest star for this episode

Lee Soo-Min as So Hyun.... Intern at the TVing station and has begun to date Kang to the fury(!) of So-Hee, this woman is a true all star drinker!

Previous recaps

The women are back to normal or at least their drinking habits are after that previous show where it was advised the trio cease drinking. In that top screenshot is Hwang who is the owner of the House of Five Blessings bar/restaurant where the women frequently go. He knows and trusts them so well he's let them pull all nighters at his place as long as they clean and lock up. That's what the mates did and seemed they drank until 10:00 am, they can talk about anything under the sun. But the main theme in this overnight chat was the kiss So-Hee gave her producer Kang the previous night/recap. She was a bit tipsy at the time and there was a leaf on So-Hee's lips when the kiss occurred, nothing bad could come of it or could it? Yes, a semi nightmare was on tap for So-Hee because of that kiss but before that another nightmare took place for as she was going home with her roommate Ji-Yeon who should witness So-Hee vomiting on the sidewalk because of drinking too much but her producer Kang!

He had a nice chuckle watching So-Hee but also needed to warn her about his.... girlfriend! 'A Girlfriend' screeched So-Hee, 'who and where is this person?'. That woman's name is Hyun who is in the above screenshot, she's an intern at the station So-Hee and Kang work at, he must be a decade older. So So-Hee naturally thought Kang seduced her because of his position which may be true but it didn't matter at the end. What matters is that the kiss So-Hee gave him has upset Hyun so much she wants to sue So-Hee for emotional damages!!!! A case like that was hogwash according to So-Hee however Hyun's cousin is a very influential lawyer so going to court would probably end up in a defeat for So-Hee. To clear the misunderstanding up So-Hee has invited the intern out to eat but that turned out to an extremely unwise decision.

Hyun has one chip on her shoulder and is almost impossible to talk to, why would the producer Kang want to date such a snobbish woman?! Hyun knew that So-Hee brought her out not to eat but to get her drunk so she would drop the harassment charge so she refused to touch any beer or Soju which infuriated So-Hee who couldn't understand why this woman wanted to press charges so badly. Plus Hyun kept calling her an old lady though their age difference is only about seven years, So-Hee then blurted out Hyun didn't want to drink because she couldn't handle her alcohol! That was not a wise comment and in the middle screenshot you can see what Hyun's answer to that was, let's settle this case by a drinking contest. If So-Hee wins then the charge will be dropped, if not Hyun will see her in court. To So-Hee this youngster is easy pickings and she'll show her what an unbeatable drinker she is.

The trio of women can certainly drink but have so many nights out guzzling Soju caught up with them? In such a surprise So-Hee was no match for Hyun who literally drank her under the table as So-Hee fell out of her chair sloshed. She was helped up by Kang who had been trailing the pair and he was shocked So-Hee lost so easily. Hyun admitted she grew up in a family that owned many restaurants and breweries, she learned how to drink at an early age and no one can top her. Arriving on the scene was So-Hee's drinking mate Ji-Goo who challenged this young upstart and to me Ji-Goo seems to be able to consume more than her two mates. But she can't consume as much as Hyun who once again put to shame a so called 'pro drinker' and is there no woman who can top Hyun drinking Soju?

There could be a savior for arriving at this outdoor restaurant was Ji-Yeon, So-Hee had let her two friends know where she would be. I thought Ji-Goo was the top drinker of the trio but not her mates who said no one can top Ji-Yeon which was proven to be true but Hyun did put up quite a fight. Then again thought it was a bit unfair to Hyun as she had already consumed so much Soju. After the competition was over Ji-Yeon was looking at her foe a bit closely and realized she knew this woman, they had grown up together but Ji-Yeon is about seven years older. They weren't close friends but Hyun's mother used to visit the salon Ji-Yeon's mother owned, later she opened up her own bar. These two gals really liked each other and Hyun wasn't as bad as a person as we thought, maybe she just put on those snobby airs to intimidate So-Hee.

So a somewhat happy ending as Hyun was going to drop her suit against So-Hee, then again she did admit later on she would have anyways as she dumped Kang the previous day. So that appears it'll be the only time we'll see Hyun but kind of hope not. Instead of joining her two mates in another round of drinking So-Hee noticed Kang eating at a convenience store and joined him as you can see above. She's admitted that she has a soft spot for men who have been dumped or are down on their luck, wonder if these two will ever get together? Another ultra fun show but do wonder why the two pro drinkers flopped so badly in that drinking competition. Will take a few days off from drama watching but hope to have the next pair of recaps this weekend.
